Chocó-story

Considered to be an exquisite privilege for the rich in the 1900s it was not until the first half of the 20th century that "chocolate" became a household name. It was then that chocolate began its premium journey into the hearts of millions and since then it never looked back. Chocolate has been around for 2000 years since the Mayan and Aztec cultures during which the cocoa seeds, one of the prime ingredients, were used for currency and beverage making for the royals.

16th Century - The Spanish conquered the Aztecs and with that brought back treasures that included the precious cacao bean.

17th Century - Chocolate saw itself to be put to medicinal use by doctors and health experts who thought of it as a cure-all for anything ranging from a stomach ache to fever and was described to be an elixir of life.

18th Century - Mechanical mills helped squeeze out the cocoa butter and the chocolate was given a new form - one that was much durable and hard.

19th Century - Briton John Cadbury developed an emulsification process to create solid forms of chocolates and thus invented the modern chocolate bar.

Chocolate is said to cause certain endocrine glands to secrete hormones that affect your feelings and behavior by making you happy. Thus it serves an important role in counteracting depression, reducing stress and that in turn helps one maintain a youthful disposition, mentally and physically.
